Conversation Cafe is a free conversational english as an additional language program (EAL) for the whole family. Offering learning online and in-person.

We are pleased to be able to offer 4 different locations across the Province (St. John’s, Gander, Corner Brook and Happy Valley-Goose Bay) that host weekly Conversation Cafe classes.

Our Programs

Conversation Cafe provides an opportunity for people to improve their conversational English Language in an informal setting through intentional, facilitated small group conversation. Some of our students do not know any English at all and some are quite proficient and just want to improve pronunciation.

We are pleased to be able to offer 4 different locations across the Province (St. John’s, Gander, Corner Brook and Happy Valley-Goose Bay) that host In-Person Conversation Cafe classes.

We also offer online classes that can be accessed anywhere around the world.

Programs

In Person

Our weekly adult program helps individuals improve their English while having conversations with small groups of people. Individuals are paired with trained and certified volunteers and others at their same language level.

Children’s Program*

We offer an in house children’s program for nursery, preschool, and school aged children. Each week, children will be provided with a snack upon their arrival and then move into classrooms, based on age. Inside these classrooms, their English skills will improve through conversations, teaching activities, and play. *Specifically for Children of Participants in the Adult Program

Online

Conversation Cafe is available through online conversational instruction. Anyone with the desire to improve their English (and with internet access) can join us for these free online classes.

youth mentorship program

Conversation Cafe also provides an opportunity to participate in a Youth and Young Adult Mentorship program for teenage children of participants in the Adult program. This mentorship program promotes development and growth in their leadership skills.
